About our women's watches

Our women's watches collection covers slim quartz dress watches, self-winding automatics and a few sportier pieces. Most cases sit between 22mm and 35mm, sized for slimmer wrists.

The range brings together Berny, Pagani Design, Sea-Gull, OUPINKE, Bonest Gatti and AGELOCER, from easy everyday quartz pieces to automatics for anyone who loves traditional watchmaking.

Each product page lists the movement, case size and crystal, so you can choose on substance as well as style.

Quartz or automatic?

Quartz watches run on a battery. They're accurate, light and need almost no attention beyond a new battery every few years.

Most of our quartz pieces use Japanese movements.

You'll find the Miyota 2035 in the Berny D004L and 2981VL, the TMI VC10 in the ultra-slim Berny 2921L, and the TMI VH65 in the 32mm Pagani Design PD-1776.

Automatic watches are mechanical. A small weighted rotor winds the mainspring as your wrist moves, so there's no battery to replace. Wear one most days and it keeps running.

Our women's automatics include the 27mm Sea-Gull 1046L (ST4200 movement) and the Sea-Gull 6130L on a red leather strap.

There's also the Berny AM107L with a Seiko NH39, and OUPINKE automatics on ceramic or tungsten steel bracelets.

Sizing for a small wrist

The average women's wrist is about 15.5cm, according to US Army ANSUR II body measurement data.

On a wrist that size, a round case of 26mm to 34mm sits neatly without overhanging.

Shaped watches are measured differently. Read both numbers: the Berny 2921L is 23 x 18mm, and the octagonal Berny 2928L is 22 x 22mm.

Thickness matters too. Slim cases slide under a cuff and feel lighter. The Berny 2921L is 6.8mm thick, the Pagani Design PD-1737 7.7mm and the Berny 2766L 8.3mm.

For a bolder look, the Berny 2953M is a 39mm sports watch with 100m water resistance. Our watch size guide shows how to measure your wrist.

Case shapes

Round is the classic, but shaped cases are where women's watches get interesting:

  • Rectangular: long and slim, with a jewellery-like look. Try the Pagani Design PD-1737, or the Berny 2921L and 2166L.
  • Octagonal: eight sides for a geometric, architectural feel, as on the Berny 2928L.
  • Tonneau: barrel-shaped, wider in the middle and curved at the sides. The Bonest Gatti automatic pairs a ceramic tonneau case with a rubber strap.
  • Cushion: a square with softly rounded corners, between round and rectangular.

Sapphire, mineral and Hardlex crystal

The crystal is the clear cover over the dial.

Sapphire crystal is the most scratch resistant, and many of our women's watches have it, including the Pagani Design PD-1776 and PD-1730 and the Berny 2766L.

Other pieces use Hardlex (a hardened mineral glass) or mineral glass.

"Sapphire-coated" glass is mineral glass with a thin coating, not solid sapphire. Each product page says which one you're getting.

Straps or bracelets?

Leather straps are soft, light and easy to change. Several of our watches use an 18mm strap, such as the Berny 2981VL and 2190VL.

Stainless steel bracelets suit daily wear and water. Many close with a folding clasp, like the Berny 2766L and Pagani Design PD-1737.

Ceramic and tungsten steel bracelets, on OUPINKE automatics, add a polished, jewellery-like finish. The Bonest Gatti tonneau uses a fluororubber strap, which shrugs off water and sweat.

Water resistance and care

Most of our women's dress watches are rated 30m (3ATM): fine for rain and hand washing, but take them off to swim.

The Pagani Design PD-1776 and Berny 2953M are rated 100m, which suits swimming.

Keep leather away from water and perfume. Store watches away from strong magnets, and wipe metal bracelets with a soft cloth.

Several of our Berny quartz models quote a battery life of around three years.

When it runs down, a watchmaker can fit a new one and check the seals at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

What size watch suits a small wrist?

For a wrist around 15cm or smaller, try a round case of 26mm to 32mm, or a slim rectangular case around 22mm wide. Thinner cases (under 9mm) also feel smaller. Our watch size guide shows how to measure.

Quartz or automatic for daily wear?

Quartz suits you if you want a light, accurate watch you can pick up and wear without thinking. Automatic suits you if you love the idea of a watch with no battery that runs on your movement, and you wear it most days.

Can I change the strap?

Yes, on watches with a separate strap. The product page lists the strap width where we have it, such as 18mm on the Berny 2981VL and 2190VL, and any strap of the same width will fit. Bracelets can be shortened by a watchmaker or jeweller.

Will an automatic watch stop if I don't wear it?

Yes, once its power reserve runs out, usually after a day or two (the Bonest Gatti tonneau runs about 42 hours). Give the crown a few turns, reset the time, and it's going again.

Is "sapphire-coated" glass the same as sapphire crystal?

No. Sapphire-coated glass is mineral glass with a thin coating. Solid sapphire crystal is far more scratch resistant. Each product page says which one the watch has.

Can I swim with my watch?

Only if it's rated to at least 100m (10ATM), like the Pagani Design PD-1776 and Berny 2953M. A 30m or 50m rating covers splashes and hand washing, not swimming. Avoid spas and saunas with any watch.
